On July 5, 2017, Connor McDavid signed a $100 million extension to remain a member of the Edmonton Oilers for the next eight years. In only his second season in the NHL in 2016-17, he helped captain the Oilers to their first playoff berth in over 10 years. His remarkable sophomore season was capped off by winning the Hart Trophy as well as the Ted Lindsay and Art Ross Trophies.
