An undersized kid with over-sized dreams, Rudy repeatedly was told he was too small to play football. While at Notre Dame, Ruettiger was part of the scout team and on the last play of the final game of his senior year, Rudy finally was put in. Ruettiger made the most of it recording a tackle and prompting his teammates to carry him off amidst cheers from the Fighting Irish faithful.
