In order to dethrone the defending NBA Finals champions in 2016, it took a heroic effort from LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. It didn't start well as the Golden State Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 series lead with a 15-point win in Game 1 and a 33-point trouncing in Game 2. But the tide began to shift in Game 3 as James' 32-point effort led the way to a 120-90 win. Game 4 went back to the Warriors as they took a commanding 3-1 lead heading into Game 5 at home. In that matchup, James and point guard Kyrie Irving became the first teammates to score at least 40 points in Finals history as the Cavs made it clear they weren't done. A home win in Game 6 behind James' 41 points set up a Game 7 for the ages. In that contest, James notched a triple-double and had a chase-down blocked shot that preserved the win in the closing minutes. The result was a 93-89 Cavs win for their first championship in team history.
