In 1934, the US issued gold certificates for Federal Reserve Banks. The notes were never issued for circulation. The 1934 editions were particularly significant since the US went off the gold standard in 1933. Though most of these notes were destroyed when they went out of use in the 1960s, some were preserved for history's sake and are now housed by the renowned Smithsonian. Through a partnership with the Smithsonian, ModernCoinMart has sourced officially licensed replicas of the 1934 notes. Each certificate was struck from .1 g of .999 fine gold at a private mint.
