"The Sporting News" magazine is dated July 28th 1997 and has been hand-signed by Stan Musial (D. 2013, St. Louis Cardinals, HOF) and Tony Gwynn (D. 2014, San Diego Padres, HOF).

Musial played his entire 22 year career with the St. Louis Cardinals. He is widely considered one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. He compiled 3,630 career hits, 475 home runs, 1,951 Runs Batted in, and hit a remarkable .331 over his career. He was a 24x All-Star, 3x World Series Champion, 3x NL MVP, and 7x Batting Champion.

Tony Gwynn, nicknamed "Mr. Padre", played 20 seasons for the San Diego Padres. Gwynn won eight batting titles in his career, tied for the most in National League (NL) history. He is considered one of the best and most consistent hitters in baseball history. He had a .338 career batting average, never hitting below .309 in any full season. In 1994 he had a modern single-season record .394 batting average, with 64 RBIs and 12 home runs. Gwynn was a 15-time All-Star, recognized for his skills both on offense and defense with seven Silver Slugger Awards and five Gold Glove Awards. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, his first year of eligibility.
