The 1989 Topps Football card set contains 396 standard sized cards. The 1989 Topps Football card set includes the rookie cards of the future Hall-of-Famers: #45 Thurman Thomas, #91 Bruce Matthewas, #121 Cris Carter, #265 Tim Brown, #323 Rod Woodson, and #383 Michael Irvin.

The 1989 Topps Traded cards makes a nice addition to this set, as it supplements the standard set with traded players in their new uniforms, and the current years' phenomenal rookie draft class of 1989, which included future Hall-of-Famers: Deion Sanders, Steve Atwater, Randall McDaniel, Troy Aikman, Barry Sanders, and Derrick Thomas. Although they are technically a separate issue, the traded cards are listed here, and also included in 1989 football card team sets.
