On October 8, 1956, in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, Don Larsen of the New York Yankees threw a perfect game against the Brooklyn Dodgers. On May 17, 1998, David Wells of the New York Yankees pitched the 15th perfect game (no opposing batters reach first base) in Major League Baseball history and the second in team history. On July 18, 1999, David Cone of the New York Yankees pitched the 16th perfect game (no opposing batters reach first base) in Major League Baseball (MLB) history and the third in team history, and the first no-hit game in regular season interleague play.
