This AD 222-235 Roman Empire Sev. Alexander Silver Denarius is a fantastic educational piece for collectors who are looking to teach others about the history of money and precious metals. Severan Alexander changed the silver purity of the denarius several times over his reign, initially reducing it from 46.5% to 43% before raising it to 45% and again to 50.5%. In terms of the design of the coin, the inscription “IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG” runs along the rim of the obverse around the portrait of Severan Alexander. That portrait shows him facing to the right side of the coin. He has a full beard and wide eyes. A variety of designs and inscriptions were used on the reverse, and we do not guaranty that you will receive a particular one.
