Wayne Gretzky played with the Edmonton Oilers in their first NHL season and was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy, bestowed to the league"™s Most Valuable Player. Over his 20-season NHL career, Gretzky broke a multitude of records, many that he still holds to this day. When Gretzky retired after the 1998-99, season he held a total of 61 NHL records. An impressive record that he still holds is the most Art Ross Trophies in a career with 10, with Gordie Howe having the second most with six trophies. On November 22, 1999, Gretzky had nearly 2,500 attendees for his official Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
