On February 5, 2017, the New England Patriots trailed the Atlanta Falcons 28–3 late in the third quarter. Brady orchestrated a historic rally, leading the Patriots to score 25 unanswered points to tie the game at 28 by the end of regulation. In overtime, Brady guided a 75-yard drive culminating in a James White touchdown, securing a 34–28 victory. This was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime and the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.

Brady set multiple Super Bowl records during the game, including 43 completions and 466 passing yards, earning his fourth Super Bowl MVP award.
