Clarence Emil “Bud” Anderson** (b. 1922) is one of the most celebrated American fighter aces of World War II, credited with **16 ¼ aerial victories** while flying with the **357th Fighter Group** of the **8th Air Force**. Assigned to the European Theater, Anderson piloted the legendary **P-51 Mustang** named **“Old Crow”**, a symbol of aerial supremacy and technical excellence.
Anderson flew **116 combat missions** from November 1943 through January 1945, engaging in dogfights over Nazi-occupied Europe and escorting B-17 and B-24 bomber formations. Known for his flying skill, humility, and leadership, he became one of the most respected and effective fighter pilots of the war. Following WWII, Anderson continued to serve in the U.S. Air Force, flying in Korea, testing experimental jets, and eventually retiring as a full colonel.
