**Brigadier General David Lee ""Tex"" Hill (1915–2007)** was a distinguished American fighter ace who achieved legendary status as a pilot with the AVG Flying Tigers during World War II. Born in Korea to American missionary parents and raised in Texas, Hill began his military aviation career in the U.S. Navy before joining Claire Lee Chennault’s **AVG Flying Tigers** to defend China against Japanese forces prior to the U.S. entering the war.

During his service with the AVG and later with the U.S. Army Air Forces’ 23rd Fighter Group, Hill **amassed 18.25 confirmed aerial victories**, making him one of America’s top WWII aces. His courageous leadership and exceptional skill earned him numerous awards, including the **Distinguished Service Cross**, **Silver Star**, and **Distinguished Flying Cross**.
