On November 29, 2020, Romain Grosjean was involved in a terrifying crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix when his car hit a barrier at 137 mph, split in half, and burst into flames. Trapped in the inferno for 27 seconds, Grosjean miraculously escaped with only burns to his hands and no broken bones. His survival was credited to the halo cockpit device, the strength of the survival cell, his fire-resistant gear, and the rapid response of the FIA medical team. The crash led to new safety reviews and is now seen as a powerful testament to Formula 1’s modern safety advancements.
