### About Geoffrey Page:

**Group Captain James Geoffrey Page, DSO, OBE, DFC & Bar (1920–2000)** was a **Royal Air Force fighter pilot and ace** who flew during the **Battle of Britain**, one of the youngest to do so. On August 12, 1940, at just 20 years old, Page was severely burned in combat when his Supermarine Spitfire was shot down. Despite life-threatening injuries and more than 15 reconstructive surgeries, he returned to active service and rejoined the fight in 1942.

As one of the founding members of the **Guinea Pig Club**—a group of WWII airmen who underwent pioneering reconstructive surgery under Sir Archibald McIndoe—Page became a symbol of courage, endurance, and the indomitable spirit of the RAF. He went on to fly over **100 combat sorties**, eventually commanding 122 Wing, and finishing the war with **15 confirmed victories**.

After the war, he remained active in public service, wrote his autobiography *Tale of a Guinea Pig*, and was instrumental in establishing the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne.
