A two-time MVP and six-time batting champion, Williams famously hit .406 in 1941, the last player in MLB history to bat over .400 in a season. Carl Yastrzemski, who succeeded Williams in left field, spent 23 seasons with the Red Sox and was equally revered for his consistency and leadership. A Triple Crown winner in 1967, Yastrzemski was an 18-time All-Star and seven-time Gold Glove winner, helping lead Boston to the World Series in the famed “Impossible Dream” season.
