Herb Suerth served with Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, the famed “Band of Brothers” whose service was chronicled in Stephen Ambrose’s book and the acclaimed HBO miniseries. Trained at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, Suerth joined Easy Company as a replacement in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne during the brutal winter of 1944–45.

Suerth, like his comrades in Easy Company, endured extreme conditions and heavy enemy fire while holding the line against the German offensive. His experiences, alongside those of his fellow paratroopers, have come to symbolize the resilience, courage, and camaraderie of the American airborne soldier during World War II.
