"Offered is a hand-signed 3x5 index card by Medal of Honor Recipient Major James E. Swett (1920–2009), signed in permanent ink. The autograph has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, ensuring both authenticity and long-term preservation.
James Swett distinguished himself as one of the most remarkable U.S. Marine Corps aviators of World War II. On April 7, 1943, during his very first combat mission in the Solomon Islands, Swett displayed extraordinary heroism while flying the F4F Wildcat. In a single engagement, he shot down seven enemy aircraft despite sustaining damage to his own plane. His actions that day earned him the Medal of Honor, making him one of the few American pilots to receive the nation’s highest military decoration for valor in aerial combat.
By the end of his service, Swett was credited with 15.5 confirmed aerial victories, solidifying his legacy as a Marine Corps ace. In addition to the Medal of Honor, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for his skill, leadership, and courage in the Pacific Theater.
This signed index card, authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, represents not only a collectible autograph but also a tangible connection to one of the most storied Marine Corps aviators of the Second World War.
