Presented is an exceptionally rare hardbound first edition of Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders by Carroll V. Glines, personally hand-signed by thirty-five (35) members of the legendary Doolittle Raiders, the elite airmen who carried out the United States’ first aerial attack on Japan during World War II. Among the signers is General James H. “Jimmy” Doolittle, who commanded the historic mission, along with many of his crewmen who took part in one of the most daring and consequential air operations in military history.

The signatures have been authenticated by PSA/DNA and are accompanied by their Letter of Authenticity, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.

The Doolittle Raid—executed on April 18, 1942—was a bold and unprecedented strike carried out by 16 B-25B Mitchell bombers launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-8). The mission, led by then–Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle, targeted industrial and military sites in Tokyo and other Japanese cities just four months after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Though the physical damage was limited, the raid had an enormous psychological impact, proving to both America and Japan that the U.S. could project power across the Pacific and turning the tide of morale in favor of the Allies.

This extraordinary volume features the signatures of 35 Doolittle Raiders, including:

Dean Davenport, James Parker, Waldo Bitter, Joseph Manse, Richard E. Cole, Charles McClure, Bert Jordan, Davy Jones, Everett Holstrom, Jimmy Doolittle, Robert Hite, Edwin Horton, Nolan Herndon, Horace Crouch, Robert Emmets, Tung-Sheng Liu, Jacob DeShazer, David Thatcher, Clayton Campbell, Henry Potter, James Macia, Doug Radney, Richard Knobloch, Frank Kappeler, Royden Stork, Robert Bourgeois, William Bower, Travis Hoover, Carl Wildner, Jack Ahlers, Howard Kessler, Hank Miller, Dave Pohl, Stephen Leonard, and Jerry Bentz.

Each of these men served aboard one of the 16 B-25 bombers that participated in the raid, flying perilous missions from the Hornet to targets deep within Japan before crash-landing in or bailing out over China. Some were captured and imprisoned by Japanese forces, others escaped with the help of Chinese civilians, and a few paid the ultimate sacrifice. Their bravery and devotion to duty epitomized the resolve of a nation united against tyranny.

General James H. “Jimmy” Doolittle (1896–1993) was already a renowned aviation pioneer before the raid, known for his record-setting flights and instrumental contributions to instrument and all-weather flying. For leading the raid, Doolittle was promoted to Brigadier General and awarded the Medal of Honor by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Other signers, including Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole (co-pilot of Plane #1), Staff Sgt. David Thatcher (Crew #7), and Lt. Jacob DeShazer (Crew #16)—who was captured and later became a missionary in Japan—represent the enduring human stories of courage, survival, and reconciliation that define the Raiders’ legacy.

Authored by Carroll V. Glines, the official historian of the Doolittle Raiders and a decorated Air Force colonel himself, Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders chronicles the meticulous planning, execution, and aftermath of the mission in vivid detail, drawing on interviews, diaries, and first-hand accounts from the men who flew it.

This PSA/DNA authenticated, 35-signature copy of Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders is among the most historically significant autographed editions ever produced—an irreplaceable artifact uniting nearly the entire roster of surviving Raiders, including their legendary leader. It stands as a monument to one of the most heroic acts of the 20th century.
