Presented is a hand-signed cut signature of General James H. “Jimmy” Doolittle (1896–1993), executed in pencil. This signature originates from a limited edition Gathering of Eagles lithograph and has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.
Jimmy Doolittle stands among the most legendary figures in American aviation history — a pioneer, innovator, and wartime hero whose name became synonymous with courage and leadership. A holder of a Doctorate in Aeronautical Engineering from MIT, Doolittle was an early champion of instrument flight and air racing, setting multiple world speed and distance records in the 1920s and 1930s.
During World War II, Doolittle earned the Medal of Honor for leading the audacious Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942 — the first American air attack on the Japanese homeland following Pearl Harbor. Commanding 16 B-25 Mitchell bombers launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, Doolittle’s mission provided a vital boost to Allied morale and demonstrated Japan’s vulnerability to air attack.
Following the raid, Doolittle rose to command the Twelfth, Fifteenth, and Eighth Air Forces, where he directed large-scale air campaigns that crippled Axis air power and paved the way for Allied victory in Europe. His distinguished career earned him promotion to four-star general and a legacy as one of America’s greatest military aviators.
This authenticated and encapsulated cut signature offers collectors an extraordinary opportunity to own the autograph of a Medal of Honor recipient, aviation pioneer, and commander of the famed Doolittle Raid — a cornerstone figure in both U.S. military and aviation history.
