Presented is a hand-signed 11x14 photograph by Colonel Clarence Emil “Bud” Anderson (1922–2023), one of America’s most celebrated World War II fighter aces and a triple ace of the 357th Fighter Group, “Yoxford Boys.” Anderson has personally inscribed the photograph “357th FG Top Guns” alongside his bold signature. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and comes with their Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.
Colonel C.E. “Bud” Anderson distinguished himself as a P-51 Mustang pilot with the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force, based in Leiston, England. Flying his famed aircraft Old Crow, Anderson completed over 100 combat missions over Europe, achieving 16¼ confirmed aerial victories—all without ever being hit by enemy fire or losing a wingman. His remarkable record of aerial skill and leadership earned him recognition as one of the top Mustang aces of the European Theater.
The 357th Fighter Group, under commanders like Tommy Hayes and John England, became one of the most accomplished American fighter groups of the war, credited with over 600 aerial victories, including many scored on long-range bomber escort missions deep into German airspace. Anderson’s mastery of the P-51 Mustang, his calm under pressure, and his commitment to his men helped define the professionalism of the “Yoxford Boys.”
Following the war, Anderson continued a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force and later as a test pilot, working alongside aviation legends such as Chuck Yeager at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Edwards Air Force Base. His postwar service spanned jet and supersonic flight testing, contributing to America’s transition into the modern aerospace age.
This PSA/DNA authenticated and inscribed 11x14 photograph captures the enduring legacy of one of America’s greatest fighter aces—a man whose courage, skill, and leadership embody the spirit of the American airmen who secured victory in the skies over Europe.
