Presented is a hand-signed 11x14 photograph depicting the legendary Northrop P-61 Black Widow night fighter, personally autographed by seven World War II P-61 pilots: Louis Bost, John Anderson, Bob Bolinder, Arthur Bourque, Lee Kendall, Avery Miller, and Roy Silgle. Each aviator’s signature represents a firsthand connection to the elite airmen who flew America’s first purpose-built radar-equipped night fighter. The photograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and is accompanied by their Letter of Authenticity, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.

The P-61 Black Widow was a revolutionary aircraft—the first U.S. fighter designed specifically for night interception and equipped with airborne radar. Serving across the European, Pacific, and China-Burma-India theaters, the twin-engine P-61 and its courageous crews operated in complete darkness, often relying solely on instruments and radar operators to locate and destroy enemy aircraft under the cover of night. The Black Widow quickly became one of the most feared nocturnal adversaries of the war, earning a reputation for its speed, firepower, and cutting-edge technology.

Among the distinguished signers:

Captain Lee Kendall, pilot of the famed P-61 “Lady in the Dark,” achieved the final aerial victory of World War II, forcing a Japanese Ki-44 “Tojo” into the sea near Okinawa on August 14, 1945—without firing a single shot.

Major Bob Bolinder served in the Pacific, completing multiple combat missions and contributing to the development of night-fighting tactics later used in Korea.

Captain John Anderson and Lieutenant Louis Bost flew with the 548th Night Fighter Squadron, protecting Allied bombers and naval fleets during critical nighttime operations.

Arthur Bourque, Avery Miller, and Roy Silgle represented the next generation of trained night fighter pilots, whose experiences contributed to postwar radar and night interception advancements.

Together, these seven men embody the skill, precision, and courage required to master one of the most complex aircraft of the Second World War. Their signatures collectively honor the innovation and valor that defined the P-61 Black Widow crews—airmen who fought unseen battles high above a sleeping world.

This PSA/DNA authenticated 11x14 photograph—bearing the signatures of seven Black Widow pilots—is an extraordinary historical artifact and a fitting tribute to the men who carried out the perilous mission of nighttime aerial combat.
