Presented is a hand-signed 8x10 photograph by Brigadier General Joseph J. “Joe” Foss (1915–2003), one of America’s most decorated fighter aces of World War II and a recipient of the Medal of Honor. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and comes with their Letter of Authenticity, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.
Joe Foss earned his place among America’s greatest combat aviators as a Marine Corps F4F Wildcat pilot with VMF-121 during the Guadalcanal Campaign in 1942–43. Flying from Henderson Field under grueling conditions, Foss led his squadron against overwhelming Japanese air forces and achieved 26 confirmed aerial victories, tying World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker’s record for the most victories by an American pilot at the time.
For his extraordinary heroism and leadership, Foss was awarded the Medal of Honor, personally presented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943. He also received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart, among numerous other decorations. Foss’s courage and determination during the Solomon Islands campaign made him a symbol of the Marine Corps’ fighting spirit and an enduring national hero.
Following the war, Foss continued a remarkable career of public service. He served as a Brigadier General in the Air National Guard, became the first commissioner of the American Football League, and was later elected Governor of South Dakota. His postwar life reflected the same integrity, patriotism, and leadership that defined his wartime service.
This authenticated and signed 8x10 photograph offers collectors a rare opportunity to own the autograph of a Medal of Honor recipient, Marine Corps ace, and American icon whose bravery helped turn the tide of the Pacific War.
