Presented is a hand-signed 8x10 aviation art print by acclaimed military artist Jay Ashurst, personally autographed in ink by Commander Randall Harold “Duke” Cunningham, U.S. Navy fighter ace of the Vietnam War. The signature has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and is accompanied by their Letter of Authenticity, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.
Commander Randy “Duke” Cunningham was one of the most skilled and celebrated naval aviators of the Vietnam era. Flying the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II with VF-96 “The Fighting Falcons” aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CV-64), Cunningham achieved five confirmed aerial victories, earning the distinction of becoming the first U.S. Navy ace of the Vietnam War.
His most famous engagement occurred on May 10, 1972, during Operation Linebacker, when Cunningham and his radar intercept officer, Lieutenant (j.g.) William P. “Irish” Driscoll, downed three enemy MiG-17s in a single mission. Their final victory that day—against a highly skilled North Vietnamese pilot often referred to as “Colonel Tomb”—cemented their place in aerial combat history. Forced to eject after their F-4 was struck by a surface-to-air missile, both men were rescued from the Gulf of Tonkin and returned safely to their carrier.
For his valor and achievements, Cunningham received the Navy Cross, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Medal. His name remains synonymous with the heroism and precision of the Navy’s Phantom pilots who dominated the skies over Southeast Asia.
This signed Jay Ashurst print—authenticated by PSA/DNA—represents an exceptional piece of modern military aviation history, commemorating one of America’s last true fighter aces.
