Richard Nelson Signed 8x10 Photo (PSA) WWII Enola Gay Radio Operator

Presented is a hand-signed 8x10 photograph by Technical Sergeant Richard H. Nelson (1922–2003), a crew member of the historic B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, the aircraft that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945. Richard Nelson served as the radio operator aboard the Enola Gay during the mission that marked a pivotal turning point in world history. Under the command of Colonel Paul W. Tibbets, Jr., the Enola Gay launched from Tinian Island carrying the atomic bomb “Little Boy.” Nelson’s duties included maintaining communications throughout the flight, a critical responsibility on a mission conducted under utmost secrecy and precision.
