In April 2025 at Masters Tournament (held at Augusta National Golf Club), Rory McIlroy achieved one of the most significant milestones of his career. He entered the final round holding a two-stroke lead after 54 holes—the first time he’d had an outright lead after three rounds at a major since 2014. Despite a roller-coaster closing stretch that included a double bogey and a late bogey, McIlroy held firm and was tied at 11-under through 72 holes with his challenger, Justin Rose. In the subsequent sudden-death playoff, McIlroy birdied the first extra hole to secure the win and claim his first Green Jacket, while simultaneously becoming just the sixth player in history to complete the modern career Grand Slam!
