Presented is a hand-signed 5x7 black and white photograph depicting the crew of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Full House (Crew A-1), 393rd Bomb Squadron, 509th Composite Group. This historic image has been personally autographed by six original crew members: Raymond Biel, Richard Anselme, Nathaniel T.R. Burgwyn, William Reedy, Steve Kibosh, and Donald Fockler. The signatures have been authenticated by PSA/DNA and are accompanied by their Letter of Authenticity, ensuring both verification and long-term preservation.
The B-29 Full House holds a significant place in aviation and military history as one of the specially assigned aircraft of the 509th Composite Group, the top-secret unit of the U.S. Army Air Forces created to carry out the atomic missions that brought World War II to its conclusion. Based on Tinian Island in the Mariana Islands, the 509th operated under the highest levels of wartime security.
Full House was one of the support aircraft for the Hiroshima mission on August 6, 1945, and also participated in weather and strike support operations related to the Nagasaki mission on August 9, 1945. These missions played a critical role in enabling the success of the Enola Gay and Bockscar strike operations.
The six signers on this photograph represent key members of the A-1 crew, each performing essential roles during the atomic operations:
Raymond Biel – Flight Engineer
Richard Anselme – Radar Operator
Nathaniel T.R. Burgwyn – Navigator
William Reedy – Co-Pilot
Steve Kibosh – Radio Operator
Donald Fockler – Gunner
Like other crews of the 509th, these airmen underwent rigorous and specialized training to prepare for unprecedented strategic bombing operations. While Enola Gay and Bockscar became synonymous with the atomic strikes, aircraft like Full House provided indispensable operational support, ensuring mission accuracy and success under extraordinary wartime conditions.
This PSA/DNA authenticated photograph—featuring six authentic signatures of Full House crew members—is a rare and historically important artifact directly tied to the most consequential air operations of the 20th century.
