Rawlings Official American League "Joe DiMaggio Day" logo baseball has been hand-signed by Joe DiMaggio (D. 1999, New York Yankees, HOF).
This is a 1998 Official American League baseball (Gene A. Budig - president) and features an image of DiMaggio batting over top of the NY logo on one panel. Blue stitching and blue stamping on the ball. Joe DiMaggio signed the sweet spot in blue ballpoint ink. His signature is shaky due to his declining health as he passed away March 8, 1999.
On September 27, 1998 the Yankees held Joe DiMaggio Day and it was Joe DiMaggio's last public appearance at Yankee Stadium. DiMaggio was ill with pneumonia at the time and did not speak during the ceremony, but his presence was a significant moment for fans and players. He died a few months later, in March 1999. The Yankees had a special game ball created for the event. Before the Hall of Famer's death in 1999, he signed 68 baseballs to be sold or distributed to family and friends. This baseball is one of those 68, and quite possibly one of the final balls ever signed by the Hall of Famer NY Yankee great.
The autograph(s) includes an official James Spence Authentication (JSA) hologram and matching LOA for authenticity purposes.
