Popular Marvel character the Punisher made his first appearance in issue #129 of the "Amazing Spider-Man" subtitled "The Punisher Strikes Twice!" created by Gerry Conway with artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. While first appearing as an antagonist to Spider-Man, the Punisher (Frank Castle), became one of Marvel's most popular protagonists, often seen taking on the mob utilizing brutal methods not used by most other Marvel heroes.
