Roger Christian is a British production designer and set decorator who played an important role in creating the visual style of Star Wars. He won an Academy Award for Set Decoration for his work on the film. Christian helped design many memorable props, including the original lightsaber built from a vintage camera flash handle. His inventive use of everyday objects helped create the realistic “used future” look that became a defining feature of the Star Wars universe.
