The 2023 Heritage Classic was an outdoor regular season game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames and was the 7th game in the Heritage Classic series, taking place on October 29th, 2023. The game was played at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton and was the first ever outdoor game in the "Battle of Alberta" rivalry. The game drew much interest and attention from the league with each team wearing specially designed uniforms, the Oilers draped in blue with orange and cream white lining, an Oil Drop on the front with their player number inside of it and "Edmonton Oilers" shown under it. The game was played in front of a crowd of 55,411, with a puck drop temperature of 27 degrees Fahrenheit under clear skies. Connor McDavid would start and spend 23:26 of ice time, logging an assist as the Oilers would defeat the Flames 5-2.
