Heading into the 2025 4 Nations Faceoff, Connor McDavid had put together quite the resume, winning gold medals in the 2013 U18 World Championships, 2015 World Junior Championships, and the 2016 World Championships. The Inaugural 4 Nations Faceoff was not a medal event, but the significance and importance of the event was the same as any international event. Wearing his usual #97, McDavid would serve as the team's alternate captain and help Canada to the championship game against their arch rivals the United States. In the championship game McDavid would put his team on his back, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to bring home the title to his country. McDavid would finish second in the tournament in scoring and would be named player of the game for his performance in the championship game. McDavid will lead the Canada men's hockey team into the 2026 Olympics in February 2026 as they will look to continue their reign of dominance in hockey.
