Dali’s description of Liquid And Gaseous Television.
TV utilizes the phenomenon of watered patterns, of phosphorescence, of iridescents emultions which are capable of refracting light. Hence, by the means of chemistry we can introduce liquids to gaseous surfaces. Thus it becomes capable of receiving holographic reconstructions. This is the future of Television. No physical medium is required, merely liquids and gases. With this invention it is possible to project in the heavens a gigantic image - perhaps Mae West - for all people to see.
In 1972-73 Robert Chase proposed the concept to Dali of picturing himself as the 20th century Leonardo da Vinci, giving the world what he imagined the future would hold. Knowing that Dali admired da Vinci greatly as a thinker and a creative genius, still, was not adequate preparation for his reaction. Dali rolled his eyes as indication of an extraordinary epiphany, and (please imagine an outrageous French-Catalan accent) he loudly exclaimed, "Fantastique! Bravo! Dal-i create the fu-ture.
