In 1965, the composition of Washington quarters and Roosevelt dimes was changed from 90% silver to a copper-nickel clad alloy; and the silver content was reduced in Kennedy half-dollars, thus making 1964 the only year Kennedy half-dollars composed of 90% silver were stuck.
