The decade was exemplified by artists like Anselm Kiefer, Jörg Immendorf, Enzo Cucchi, Francesco Clemente and Julian Schnabel. Street art and graffiti began to gain recognition, key artists of which include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf.
