"Le Mariage" is a limited edition lithograph on paper by Raya Sorkine, numbered and hand signed by the artist. Measures approx. 21.5" x 29.5" (border). 17.5" x 24" (image).
Raya studied in Ann Arbor, Michigan and exelled mainly in the field of art. Her motivation and desire for a life of creative expression were seeded during this time. Raya's parents also played an important role in her creative developement.As a teenager Raya studied under Jack Cartlidge, a well known sculptor and professor of art at New College in Sarasota, Florida. During her apprenticeship she created life sized human sculptures out of cement. Cartlidge belived in Ray's ability as an artist and encouraged Raya to find develope her own style and technique by exploring as many avenues as possible. At 18 years old, Raya was living on her own in San Francisco and began designing jewelry to support herself. Raya studied in Ann Arbor, Michigan and exelled mainly in the field of art. Her motivation and desire for a life of creative expression were seeded during this time. Raya's parents also played an important role in her creative developement. During the early 1980's while living in Mendocino, California, Raya realized that she had an interest in printmaking. For three years she studied under Robert Rhodes, an instructor at the College of the Redwoods. This education laid a solid technical foundation for the work she later produced. Raya feels that her recent works display her overall personal vision and philosophy that has continued to grow through her work.
