Meyer Lansky's personal copy of "Marie Antoinette" by Stefan Zweig. The book contains markings and notes written by Meyer during his studies. Most notable is the line "Life never gives anything for nothing and that a price always exacted for what fate bestows." that has been underlined on page 104, a quote Lansky was said to live by. Please note that the book shows signs of wear.
Meyer Lansky known as the "Mob's Accountant", was a major organized crime figure and member of the Jewish Mafia who, along with his associate Charles "Lucky" Luciano, was instrumental in the development of the "National Crime Syndicate" in the United States. Despite nearly fifty years as a member-participant in organized crime, Lansky was never found guilty of anything more serious than illegal gambling. He has a legacy of being one of the most successful (in terms of finance) gangsters in American history.
Includes a notarized Letter of Provenance from a family member of Meyer Lansky for authenticity purposes.
