Custom matted handwritten letter measures approximately 8.75" x 10.75" in size and has been hand-signed by Chester A. Arthur (D.1886). Letter has been dated September 22nd, 1862.

Writing to a lawyer, Arthur says in full: "My dear Sir, I enclose letter to the Gov + one to the Adj. Genl. After you have read them, please seal + mail them separately." Signed at the conclusion "Yours faithfully, C.A. Arthur."
