Custom framed display measures approximately 21" x 22" in size and features a note that has been hand-signed by Arthur Conan Doyle (D. 1930).

Within the frame are a collectible contemporary B&W card, and photo of Doyle enjoying a bicycle ride, a colorized youthful photo of Doyle, a reproduction lobby card, a miniaturized pewter key to 221 Baker Street, and a Holmes’ pipe, and a plaque with the quote “Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains no matter how improbable, is the truth.”

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, already a physician, created the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and introduced him to literature in “A Scarlet Letter” in 1886. By 1893, the time of this letter, he wanted to pursue writing historical novels, and thought to retire Sherlock Holmes and his arch nemesis, Moriarty, by plunging them to their deaths in the Reichenbach Falls, in “The Final Solution.” Unremitting outcry from his international fan base brought Sherlock back in 1901’s “The Hound of the Baskervilles.” He lives on today in Doyle’s 4 novels, 56 short stories, and too numerous to count copies by other authors’ novels.

The autograph includes an official James Spence Authentication (JSA) hologram and matching LOA for authenticity purposes.
