This original award was presented to Terry Cummings after the 1982-83 season in recognition of being named the NBA Rookie of the Year. The plaque measures approximately 9" x 13" in size.

The award is hand-signed in black felt tip pen on the back by Terry Cummings.

Terry Cummings was selected in the first round by the San Diego Clippers, and in his rookie 1982–83 season, he won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award after putting up 23.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

In 18 seasons Terry Cummings scored 19,460 points which places him among the top 50 career scorers. He finished with averages of 16.4 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. He also played in 1,183 Games, had 33,898 minutes, a .484 field goal percentage (8,045 for 16,628), .706 free throw percentage (3,326 for 4,711), 8,630 total rebounds (3,183 offensive, 5,447 defensive), and 1,255 steals.
