Ringside boxing bell has been hand-signed by Muhammad Ali (D. 2016, HOF).

Muhammad Ali, born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, was an American professional boxer and one of the most significant and celebrated athletes of the 20th century. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time and a global cultural icon.

Ali's boxing career began at a young age, and he quickly rose through the ranks as an amateur. He won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Soon after, he turned professional and adopted the name Muhammad Ali after converting to Islam in 1964.

Ali's boxing style was characterized by his speed, agility, and remarkable footwork. He was known for his quick and precise jabs, his ability to dance around opponents, and his ability to "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." In addition to his boxing skills, he was famous for his charismatic personality, colorful trash-talking, and his willingness to speak out on social and political issues.

One of Muhammad Ali's most famous fights was the "Fight of the Century" against Joe Frazier on March 8, 1971. He suffered his first professional defeat in this epic bout, but he would later get his revenge by defeating Frazier in their rematches in 1974 (the "Rumble in the Jungle") and 1975 (the "Thrilla in Manila").

Ali also had a historic rivalry with George Foreman, culminating in the "Rumble in the Jungle" in Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) on October 30, 1974. In one of the most famous upsets in boxing history, Ali defeated Foreman by knockout in the eighth round, reclaiming the heavyweight championship.

Beyond his boxing achievements, Ali was known for his activism and social impact. He was a prominent civil rights advocate and opposed the Vietnam War, famously stating, "I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet Cong." His refusal to be drafted into the military during the war led to him being stripped of his boxing titles and banned from the sport for several years. However, his conviction was later overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, and he returned to the ring.

Muhammad Ali retired from professional boxing in 1981 with a record of 56 wins (37 by knockout) and 5 losses. He was a three-time heavyweight champion and the first fighter to win the title three times.

In his post-boxing career, Ali continued to be an ambassador for peace, humanitarian causes, and charitable work. He passed away on June 3, 2016, in Scottsdale, Arizona, but his legacy as both a sporting legend and a symbol of courage, conviction, and social change continues to inspire people worldwide.
