Letter measures 8.5" x 11" in size and has been dated December 7th, 1922. The letter has been hand-signed and inscribed by Thomas Edison (D. 1931).

In 1922, Thomas Edison was a well-known and accomplished inventor, although he was no longer as active as he had been earlier in his career. By this time, he had already made significant contributions to various fields, particularly in the development of electrical and lighting technologies.

Some key points about Thomas Edison in 1922:

Light Bulb Invention: Edison is most famous for inventing the practical incandescent light bulb. By 1922, incandescent light bulbs were widely used, and his invention had revolutionized the way people lit their homes and workplaces.

Electric Power: Edison was also instrumental in the development of the electrical power generation and distribution system. His work helped establish the use of direct current (DC) for electrical power distribution, although it would later be largely supplanted by alternating current (AC) systems developed by Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse.

Phonograph: Edison also invented the phonograph, which was a groundbreaking invention in the world of sound recording and playback. It allowed for the recording and reproduction of audio for the first time.

Motion Pictures: Edison was involved in the early development of motion pictures. He invented the Kinetoscope, an early motion picture device, and also established the world's first film production studio, often referred to as the "Black Maria."

Age and Health: By 1922, Edison was in his mid-70s and was not as active in inventing as he had been in his earlier years. His health was not as robust as it once was, and he faced some health challenges.

Legacy: Thomas Edison's contributions to science and technology had already solidified his place in history as one of the most influential inventors of all time. His work laid the foundation for many modern technologies and industries.

It's worth noting that Edison passed away on October 18, 1931, at the age of 84. Despite his passing, his inventions and innovations continue to have a lasting impact on the world.
