Gooden is a four-time MLB All-Star and three-time World Series champion. He won the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year Award in 1984, as he led the league in strikeouts, and then won the NL Cy Young Award in 1985. While a member of the Yankees, Gooden threw a no-hitter in 1996.
