Franco Harris is a former professional American football player who became renowned for his career as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). Born on March 7, 1950, in Fort Dix, New Jersey, Harris played college football at Penn State University before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 1972 NFL Draft.

Harris quickly made a significant impact in the NFL, earning the NFL Rookie of the Year award in 1972. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for 12 seasons, during which he became a key player in the team's legendary "Steel Curtain" era. Harris helped lead the Steelers to four Super Bowl victories in a six-year span (Super Bowl IX, X, XIII, and XIV), cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in NFL history.

Throughout his career, Harris was known for his powerful running style, durability, and ability to come through in clutch moments. He retired from professional football in 1984 after spending his final season with the Seattle Seahawks. Following his retirement, Harris was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990, further solidifying his status as one of the game's all-time greats.
