Vintage 1909 Abraham Lincoln Bronze Plaque

This bronze plaque measures approximately 6" in diameter was made in 1909 in commemorate of the centennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth!

The pose that is used on the plaque is that of the same pose made by Lincoln on the US penny coin. The plaque was mad by Max Peinlich and features an engraved signature in the lower right side. The plaque has minor green patina showing.

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, is one of the most revered figures in American history. Born on February 12, 1809, in a log cabin in Kentucky, Lincoln rose from humble beginnings to become a self-educated lawyer and statesman. His political career began in Illinois, where he served in the state legislature and later in the U.S. House of Representatives. Lincoln's opposition to the spread of slavery propelled him onto the national stage, leading to his election as President in 1860. His presidency was dominated by the Civil War, during which he navigated the nation through its darkest hour, preserved the Union, and issued the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing millions of enslaved people. Lincoln's leadership, moral clarity, and commitment to equality ultimately cost him his life when he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865, just days after the Confederate surrender. His legacy as the Great Emancipator and defender of democracy endures, shaping the course of American history and inspiring generations with his enduring words and deeds.
